A Celebration of Life

A celebration of life seems to be a bit of a new way of describing a traditional funeral, but to me they are very different things. A celebration of life does not start with a trip to a funeral director. A celebration of life is considered, not rushed, and not led by anyone else’s sense of normal or usual. There is no judgement in that last sentence, I am merely pointing out some of the differences in approaching a ceremony.

When someone we love is approaching death, if we are aware of it, or has recently died it can send us into an emotional spin. There are so many things to do, to organise, to make sense of and of course we want to be able to do our loved one justice in giving them a good ‘send off’ – whatever that means to us.
